MOTS-c 40mg Reconstitution: How Much Bacteriostatic Water & How Many Units
A 40mg vial of MOTS-c contains 40,000 mcg. After you add bacteriostatic water, the amount of water decides the concentration — and therefore how many units you draw on a U-100 insulin syringe (1 ml = 100 units). The tables below cover the common water amounts.
Concentration by water amount
| Water added | Concentration | Per 1 unit (0.01 ml) | Per 10 units (0.1 ml) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2 ml | 20 mg/ml | 200 mcg | 2 mg |
| 3 ml | 13.33 mg/ml | 133.33 mcg | 1.33 mg |
| 5 ml | 8 mg/ml | 80 mcg | 800 mcg |
How many units to draw
Example doses across the research range listed for MOTS-c (5 mg–10 mg). Units are on a U-100 insulin syringe.
| Dose | With 2 ml | With 3 ml | With 5 ml | Doses per vial |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 5 mg | 25 units | 37.5 units | 62.5 units | 8 |
| 6 mg | 30 units | 45 units | 75 units | 6 |
| 8 mg | 40 units | 60 units | 100 units | 5 |
| 10 mg | 50 units | 75 units | 125 units (over 1 ml — split or use a larger syringe) | 4 |
How to mix it
- Wipe the vial stoppers with alcohol and let them dry.
- Draw your chosen amount of bacteriostatic water into a sterile syringe.
- Inject the water slowly down the inside wall of the MOTS-c vial — not directly onto the powder.
- Swirl gently until clear. Do not shake.
- Label the vial with the date and concentration, and store it in the refrigerator.

FAQ
How much bacteriostatic water do I add to a 40mg MOTS-c vial?
Common choices are 2 ml, 3 ml, 5 ml. With 3 ml the concentration is 13.33 mg/ml. More water makes each dose a larger, easier-to-measure draw; less water keeps injection volume small. The amount of water does not change the dose — only how many units you draw.
How many units is 5 mg of MOTS-c from a 40mg vial?
With 3 ml of bacteriostatic water, 5 mg is 37.5 units on a U-100 (1 ml) insulin syringe. See the table above for other water amounts.
How many doses are in a 40mg MOTS-c vial?
At 5 mg per dose, a 40mg vial holds about 8 doses. At higher doses it holds fewer — see the table.
