BPC-157 Dosage Guide: Complete Protocol for Recovery
Published October 15, 2026 Β· Updated October 15, 2026
BPC-157 is the most popular recovery peptide in the research community β and also one of the most misunderstood on dosing. It is dosed in micrograms (not milligrams), scaled to body weight, injected twice daily, and cycled in weeks, not months. This guide lays out the complete BPC-157 dosage framework: the weight-based math, dosage charts by injury type, a titration schedule for first cycles, cycle length and break rules, how to stack it with TB-500, and the safety lines you should not cross. The BPC-157 peptide page covers the mechanism in depth β this page is the practical dosing manual.
What is BPC-157?
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a stable synthetic pentadecapeptide β a 15-amino-acid fragment derived from a protein found in human gastric juice. That gastric origin is why it is unusually stable: it survives stomach acid and digestive enzymes that would shred most peptides, which is also why an oral form exists at all.
Mechanistically, research studies show BPC-157 upregulates angiogenesis (VEGF receptor signaling β new blood vessel growth), accelerates fibroblast migration and collagen synthesis, and supports tendon-to-bone healing. It also has a well-documented protective effect on the gut lining in animal models β including against NSAID-induced damage. Those three properties (blood supply, tissue building, gut repair) explain why nearly every BPC-157 study focuses on injury recovery.
How BPC-157 dosing works
Three rules define essentially every BPC-157 protocol: microgram doses scaled to body weight, twice-daily frequency, and defined cycles. BPC-157 has a short plasma half-life (measured in minutes to hours), but the downstream growth-factor effects persist much longer β hence twice-daily injections are the research convention rather than one large daily dose.
- Dose scale: ~3.5 mcg per kg of body weight per administration, clamped to the standard research range of 250β500 mcg per dose.
- Frequency: 2x daily (morning and evening) β the short half-life means steady coverage needs two administrations.
- Route: subcutaneous injection near (but never into) the injury site for musculoskeletal use; oral capsules for gut-focused protocols.
- Cycle: 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off is the standard research cycle.
BPC-157 dosage by body weight
The weight-based rule: 3.5 mcg/kg per administration, rounded to a practical syringe reading and kept inside the 250β500 mcg range the database uses. For most adults this lands between 250 and 350 mcg per dose.
| Body weight | Calculated dose (3.5 mcg/kg) | Practical dose (2x daily) |
|---|---|---|
| 50 kg (110 lb) | ~175 mcg | 250 mcg |
| 60 kg (132 lb) | ~210 mcg | 250 mcg |
| 70 kg (154 lb) | ~245 mcg | 250 mcg |
| 80 kg (176 lb) | ~280 mcg | 250β300 mcg |
| 90 kg (198 lb) | ~315 mcg | 300β350 mcg |
| 100 kg (220 lb) | ~350 mcg | 350β400 mcg |
Two honest observations from the research literature: below ~150 mcg per dose the animal-model extrapolation suggests effects taper quickly, and above ~500 mcg there is no evidence of added benefit β the angiogenesis and growth-factor pathways saturate. More is not better; consistency is. The protocol builder computes your exact dose from your weight automatically.
Dosage by injury type
The dose scale barely changes β but route, cycle length, and stack decisions do:
| Goal | Dose & route | Cycle |
|---|---|---|
| Acute muscle/tendon injury | 250β500 mcg SC 2x daily, near the injury site | 2β4 weeks |
| Chronic tendon/ligament damage | 500 mcg SC 2x daily, often stacked with TB-500 | 4β6 weeks |
| Gut lining / GI repair | 250β500 mcg oral 2x daily on an empty stomach | 4 weeks |
| Post-surgical recovery | 250 mcg SC 2x daily, titrating up as tolerated (hold 1β2 weeks before surgery β see safety) | 4 weeks |
| General recovery / maintenance | 250 mcg SC or oral 2x daily | 2β4 weeks |
The "near the injury site" convention: inject subcutaneously into the skin a few centimeters around the injured area β never into the tendon, joint capsule, or wound itself. Local delivery to the surrounding tissue is the whole point of the regional dosing seen in animal studies.
Titration schedule for your first cycle
Even though BPC-157 is well tolerated in research reports, first cycles should ramp β it makes any reaction identifiable and attributable:
- Week 1 β 250 mcg 2x daily subcutaneous. Fixed. No increases.
- Week 2 β assess: appetite, energy, injection-site response, injury feel. If tolerated and progressing, move to your weight-based target dose (300β400 mcg 2x daily for most).
- Weeks 3β4 β hold the target dose through the end of the cycle. Reassess the injury before extending.
- Stubborn chronic injuries only β extend to 6 weeks maximum at the upper end (500 mcg 2x daily), then a mandatory 4-week break.
Cycle length: 4 weeks on, 4 weeks off
The standard research cycle is 4 weeks of use followed by a 4-week break. The break is not a formality: receptor and growth-factor pathway sensitivity, plus the chance to honestly re-evaluate whether the injury still needs support, both depend on it. Research protocols for chronic tendon damage sometimes run 6β8 week cycles, but any extension should come with a reason, not habit.
If a full 4-week cycle at a properly titrated dose produces no perceptible change in the injury, the answer is not a longer cycle or a bigger dose β it is a re-evaluation of the diagnosis. Tendon pain that is actually nerve entrapment will not respond to angiogenesis stimulation no matter how much you inject.
Stacking with TB-500
BPC-157 + TB-500 (thymosin beta-4 fragment) is the most popular recovery stack in the research community β the two cover complementary tissue-repair pathways and dose on different rhythms, so they interleave cleanly without competing for the same schedule. The full science is in the BPC-157 + TB-500 stack guide.
| Peptide | Dose | Frequency | Cycle |
|---|---|---|---|
| BPC-157 | 250β500 mcg (weight-based) | 2x daily, SC | 4β6 weeks |
| TB-500 | 2β2.5 mg (up to 5 mg for large adults) | 2x weekly, SC | 4β6 weeks |
- Morning: BPC-157 250β500 mcg subcutaneous near the injury site.
- Evening: BPC-157 second dose.
- Monday & Thursday: TB-500 2β2.5 mg subcutaneous anywhere (no need to align with BPC doses).
- One stack change at a time β if you add TB-500 to an existing BPC cycle, keep the BPC dose constant for the first two weeks so any response is attributable.
Pre-blended BPC/TB vials (5 mg/5 mg or 10 mg/10 mg ratios) exist precisely for this stack β verify the blend ratio against your own dose math before switching from separate vials.
Reconstitution and syringe math
BPC-157 ships as a lyophilized powder, and every dosing decision flows from one division: peptide in the vial divided by water added. The classic 5 mg vial with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water gives 2.5 mg/mL = 2,500 mcg/mL β so a 250 mcg dose is 10 units on an insulin syringe, and a 350 mcg dose is 14 units.

Side effects
BPC-157 has a mild side-effect profile in research reports β which is precisely why it is worth listing what HAS been reported, so the rare events are recognizable:
- Mild flushing or warmth shortly after injection (most common report; usually fades within minutes).
- Injection-site irritation β redness or tenderness at the SC injection point. Rotate sites.
- Dizziness (rare, typically transient).
- Fatigue or mild lethargy reported occasionally at the start of a cycle; usually resolves within days.
What should stop a cycle immediately: any sign of allergic reaction (hives, swelling, breathing difficulty), infection at an injection site (spreading warmth, pus, streaking), or persistent unexplained symptoms. None of these are "push through" events.
Safety, contraindications, and warnings
- Cancer or active tumor: BPC-157 is pro-angiogenic β it grows blood vessels, and tumors exploit exactly that pathway. An active cancer diagnosis is an absolute exclusion.
- Warfarin / anticoagulants: animal studies suggest BPC-157 can modulate coagulation pathways. Combining with blood thinners is a bleeding-risk line you do not cross.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding: no data. Full stop.
- Active bleeding or pre-surgical status: hold BPC-157 for 1β2 weeks before any planned surgery β the last thing you want around a surgical field is altered coagulation signaling.
- Athletes under anti-doping jurisdiction: BPC-157 is on the WADA Prohibited List (S0, non-approved substances). A positive test is a real sanction, not a theoretical risk.
- No FDA approval: every vial sold is sold for research use. Quality varies wildly between suppliers β third-party testing matters more with BPC-157 than with almost any other peptide because the market is huge.
For the full framework (interaction screening, sourcing, lab work, escalation rules), read the peptide safety guide β and run any planned stack through the protocol builder to screen against your conditions and medications before starting.
Frequently asked questions
How much BPC-157 should I take?
The research convention is ~3.5 mcg per kg of body weight per dose, twice daily, clamped to the 250β500 mcg range. For most adults that means 250β350 mcg twice daily. Start at 250 mcg for the first week and only move to your weight-based target if tolerated.
How long does a BPC-157 cycle last?
Four weeks on followed by a four-week break is the standard research protocol. Chronic tendon and ligament injuries sometimes justify extending to six weeks at the upper dose range, but there is no evidence supporting continuous long-term use β receptor sensitivity and honest re-evaluation both require the break.
Can BPC-157 be taken orally?
Yes β unlike nearly every other injectable peptide, BPC-157 survives digestion because of its gastric-juice origin. The oral route is used specifically for gut lining protocols; for tendon, ligament, and muscle injuries the subcutaneous route near the injury is strongly preferred in research protocols.
How long does BPC-157 take to work?
Research reports on acute injuries typically describe perceptible improvement within 1β2 weeks, with fuller effects across a 3β4 week cycle. Chronic injuries are slower and often need the TB-500 stack and a full cycle before any honest assessment. If a complete properly-dosed cycle produces nothing, revisit the diagnosis rather than the dose.
Is BPC-157 safe?
It has a mild reported side-effect profile in the research community and no demonstrated serious harms in animal studies β but there are no completed human trials. The absolute exclusions are active cancer, warfarin/anticoagulant use, pregnancy, and active bleeding, and athletes should know it is prohibited under WADA S0.
Is BPC-157 legal?
It is not a controlled substance in most jurisdictions, but it is also not FDA-approved for human use anywhere β it is sold legally as a research chemical, not a medicine. That status is why the evidence base is preclinical, why supplier quality varies, and why any use is unregulated and at your own risk.
